Lisa Almeter is founder and director of CultureKids. She has studied in Madrid, Spain and Lima, Peru and has traveled to Quito, Ecuador and Acapulco, Mexico to learn the Spanish language and culture. She has a degree in Spanish/Psychology with an emphasis in Childhood Development from John Carroll University along with a love of the Spanish language and culture. She is a proud mother of four children.


Rebekah Barbera is pursuing her degree in ESL education at Niagara University.  She has been studying Spanish for over 14 years and has a great passion for the Spanish language and culture.  She hopes to help her students fall in love with Spanish just like she has!

Meredith Battin is in the Honor Program at Canisius College.  She has been studying Spanish for many years and studied abraod in Gijon, Spain where she lived with a Spanish family.  She also works as an intern coach for Nichols Cross Country team.  Meredith enjoys sharing her Spanish with the students.

Sarah Biddlecom has been teaching with CultureKids since 2010.  She lived and studied in Barcelona, Spain.  She holds her degree in Anthropology and Spanish Studies.  Sarah is very involved in many community organizations especially those relating to children's activities and programming.  She enjoys the students' energy and eagerness to learn and absorb the Spanish language and culture!

Joan Foley holds her degree from the State University of New York at Fredonia. She worked for 10 years with the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service where she frequently used her Spanish skills. Joan has traveled several times to Mexico and enjoys sharing her love of the Spanish language with the students.

Emily Galus currently teaches Spanish at Notre Dame Academy  to students in grades 2 -8.  She is a graduate of the State University of New York at Fredonia with a major in Childhood Education with a concentration in Spanish and Special Education.  She is currently pursuing her Masters degree at the University at Buffalo in Teaching English As A Second Language.  She has studied in Madrid, Spain.


Jessica Hills is a May 2013 graduate of SUNY College at Buffalo with certification in Childhood Education and a concentration in Spanish.  She loves everything about the Spanish culture and loves introducing the language and culture to children!  She studied in Spain in 2009 and had the opportunity to also travel in Spain to Madrid, Salamanca, Avila, Toledo and Barcelona.  She even traveled to Lisbon, Portugal.  She intends to pursue a Masters certification working towards the goal of becoming a full time teacher to children with no English background.


Julie Hund has a background in Spanish for Law Enforcement. She enjoys working with elementary aged students and spent a brief period of time teaching Spanish to second grade students at a local elementary school. She has been involved in Spanish clubs and International clubs. Julie is a mother of young children and enjoys sharing her love of the Spanish language.
  Diana Miceli was born and educated in Madrid, Spain.  She is currently pursuing her M.B.A. from the University at Buffalo.  She is an experienced Spanish tutor and brings a wonderful native speaking element to the classroom.
Katie Newton holds her degree in Spanish from Niagara University. She is currently pursuing her Master's Degree in Education with a Spanish concentration at the University of Buffalo. She has lived and studied in Argentina and has tutored students in Spanish. She has experience working with elementary-aged students through her work with the Hamburg Recreation Department and as a respite worker for a local community agency. She is excited to share her knowledge of Spanish with the students.

Dana Powers holds her Master's Degree in Adolescent Education from D'Youville College and a Bachelor's Degree in Spanish.  She studied abroad in Spain.  Dana enjoys working with the elementary students and sharing her experiences abroad and her love of the language.
  Katie Sandle is currently pursuing a degree in French, Spanish and ASL at Niagara University.  She enjoys working with young children and sharing her knowledge with them.  She is excited to study abroad to be immersed into the culture and continue to broaden her knowledge to share with the students!
Alisha Seney lived and studied at La Universidad de Sevilla in Seville, Spain.  She has traveled around Spain and Europe and holds a degree from SUNY College at Brockport in Spanish Language and Literature.  She is currently working on post her post baccalaureate degree in Spanish Education at Buffalo State College. She loves working with the CultureKids students!


Maria Siepel is a world traveler!  She is a native speaker from Spain and has been teaching Spanish at the elementary level for over 28 years.  She currently teaches Spanish at Nardin Academy where she has taught since 1985.  Maria is a member of the Western New York Foreign Language Educators Council.  She has traveled throughout Europe, South America, Carribean, Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii, China and United Arab Emirates.  She loves sharing her travel experiences with her students.  If you are looking to join a group for international travel, Maria is often coordinating trips for students and parents.


  Kristen Tischer holds her Masters degree from the University at Buffalo in Learning and Instruction for Foreign Language.  Her Bachelors degree is from SUNY Fredonia in Adolescent Education.  Kristen teaches Spanish to the middle school students at St. John the Baptist School.  She does a wonderful job preparing her students for high school Spanish.  She has traveled all over the world to include Brazil, Mexico, Puerto Rico and Spain!
  Araceli Troncone is eager to be returning to the classroom after staying at home to care for her younger children.  She is a graduate of Daemen College with a degree in Elementary Education - Spanish.  She is fluent in Spanish and English and brings a lot of excitement and energy into the classroom!  Araceli is currently taking classes to pursue a post baccalaureate degree.

Julie Trzaska teaches Spanish a St. Amelia's School.  Prior to that she taught Spanish at BOCES Alternative School for six years.  She loves working now with the elementary and middle school students! Julie holds her Masters degree from SUNY at Buffalo and her undergraduate degree from Niagara University.  She loves sharing her love of Spanish with her students.

Marcus Wagner is a Team Leader in an afterschool elementary program.  He has lived in Argentina and Nicaragua where he was able to immerse himself in the Spanish language and culture.  He brings a wonderful knowledge of the Central and South American cultures into the classroom.  Marcus is completing his degree as a Spanish major from SUNY at Buffalo.
Jacob Waszak teaches Spanish at St. Mark's School.  He brings great enthusiasm into the classroom!  He is a graduate of SUNY College at Buffalo with a degree in Spanish Literature.  Jacob is currently working on his Masters degree in Teaching English To Speakers of Other Languages at Canisius College.
